NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES

Twelve Gables is famous for being the meeting place of local ladies who met in 1866 to plan a special day to decorate the graves of the Confederate and Union soldiers in Friendship Cemetery. This ceremony led to our country’s Memorial Day.

This private residence is one of the many examples Columbus’ impeccably maintained and preserved historic homes, and has been featured in our annual Spring Pilgrimage.
