Traditions, Taste and Tunes is a meaningful Memorial Day weekend tradition in Columbus, Mississippi, bringing the community together for a blend of remembrance, celebration, and small-town charm.
The weekend begins Friday morning with the Placement of Flags at Sandfield Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. Following the placement of flags is a dedication of a WWI Memorial at the Lowndes County Courthouse at 11 a.m. That evening, the Riverwalk Stage comes alive from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with live music by Artistik Band, creating a lively backdrop for an evening along the water. Guests can enjoy a variety of food vendors, family-friendly kids’ activities, and a special flyover that adds a patriotic touch to the evening’s festivities. Attendees are encouraged to bring their personal lawn chairs.
On Saturday, the spirit of remembrance continues as the American Legion places flags at Friendship Cemetery at 8:00 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. honoring the sacrifices of service members.
